Biography

Morris Bachmann is a London-based composer, sound designer, and music producer. Originally from Zurich, he relocated to London to study at the London College of Music, where he is currently completing a Master's degree in Composition for Film and TV.

In recent years his work has grown increasingly focused on the intersection of music and image — music for film, video games, and visual media generally — and on the possibilities that emerging technologies offer for how sound and narrative can be experienced together.

At the heart of his practice is a fascination with how music shapes our experience of the world around us: the atmosphere it creates, the emotions it unlocks, and the connection it can create to a place and a time. Whether writing for orchestra or working within contemporary electronic production, he moves freely between musical worlds, in pursuit of the point where sound and image synergise.

His background as a pianist and early interest in music production and sound engineering inform a practice grounded in both music theory and technical fluency.

He thinks of himself as two things at once — an architect and a gardener: one who builds with structure, theory, and intention, and one who follows instinct, atmosphere, and feeling, a duality first shaped by his engagement with jazz, where music theory and free improvisation coexist.

Drawing equally from late romanticism, jazz-funk and electronic music production, including hip-hop and dance music, he maintains a broad engagement with music across history and genre.

Looking to the future, he is committed to versatility — bridging acoustic instruments, orchestral writing, electronic music, synthesis, and sound design to explore the infinite possibilities of capturing, shaping, and processing sound. Hybrid solutions and the blending of different sonic worlds fascinate him, and the potential of new discoveries drives him forward.
